Clinical Approach

Internal Family Systems

IFS views the mind as consisting of various "parts" or sub-personalities, each with its own unique characteristics and functions. The goal of IFS is to help individuals understand and harmonize these internal parts, fostering a balanced and integrated sense of self. IFS therapy involves communicating with these internal parts, often guided by the therapist, to promote healing and inner peace.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. It is based on the idea that our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are interconnected, and by addressing and modifying distorted or unhelpful thoughts, one can positively influence emotions and actions.

Exposure and Response Prevention

ERP is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) used to treat OCD. It involves exposing individuals to feared situations, while preventing them from engaging in their usual compulsive behaviors. ERP helps individuals learn they can tolerate anxiety without relying on compulsions.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT is a mindfulness-based approach that supports individuals through principles of acceptance, mindfulness, and taking steps towards living a value-oriented life. ACT is a valuable tool for both anxiety and OCD, supporting individuals by teaching them to accept uncomfortable thoughts and feelings rather than fighting them.

Cognitive Processing Therapy

CPT is a specific type of cognitive behavioral therapy designed to help individuals with post-traumatic stress disorder by helping them process and change unhelpful thoughts or belief systems related to their traumatic events. This is a 12 session treatment where individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns associated with the trauma, and work towards developing more balanced and flexible perspectives.
